Install GNS on Fedora Linux

Install GNS on fedora 16

1. download GNS3 from http://www.gns3.net/

2. install python3-PyQt4

#yum install python3-PyQt4

3. install PyQt4

#yum install PyQt4

4. download dynagen from

32 bit version: http://sourceforge.net/projects/gns-3/files/Dynamips/0.2.8-RC2/dynamips-0.2.8-RC2-x86.bin/download
64 bit version: http://sourceforge.net/projects/gns-3/files/Dynamips/0.2.8-RC2/dynamips-0.2.8-RC2-amd64.bin/download

5. after you download you will get file dynamips-0.2.8-RC2-x86.bin (rename it to dynamips.py if you gns3 does not recognize the file we download)

6. extract the gns3 package then run
#python gns3.pyw

7. when GNS3 open go to edit --> Preferences --> dynamips
  - change the Executable path: to the dynamips-0.2.8-RC2-x86.bin that u just download
  - change working directory  to the folder that contain dynamips-0.2.8-RC2-x86.bin

8. How you can load Cisco ISO file and start using it.

Note: when you click console to configure router, if the console port does not appear you can telnet telnet localhost port 2001. And if you have multiple router are running. you have to use netstart to list the listening ports that are higher that 2001. if you see 2002, 2003, or 2005, etc are open. means that other will use that port so telnet to localhost with the port that you see in your system.

1. Download GNS3 Simulator software and Install Simulator Software

a. http://www.gns3.net/download

b. GNS3 v0.7.4 all-in-one install under Windows

2. Download all GNS3 files for Cisco PIX and ASA Firewalls.

You can download required GNS3 files from blow or by vising below link.

a. asa802-k8.initrd.gz

b. asa802-k8.kernel

c. pixinfo.txt

d. pix724.bin

3. Cisco PIX Firewall Setup in GNS3

a. Click on Edit

b. Click on Prefrences

c. Click on Qemu

d. Click on the PIX tab

e. Open the file pixinfo.txt that you downloaded

f. Enter the information for the Key and Serial number

g. Point the binary file to the pix724.bin file you downlaoded

h. Identifier Name type PIX724

i. Click on Apply and OK

Now you drag and drop Cisco PIX  Firewall from left side GNS3 Symbols, run and configure it.

 4. Cisco ASA Firewall Setup in GNS3

a. Click on Edit

b. Click on Prefrences

c. Click on Qemu

d. Click on the ASA tab

e. point both files asa802-k8.initrd.gz and asa802-k8.kernel in respected tab.

f. add Identifier Name for ASA firewall.

g. Click on Apply and OK
